Meet Johannes

Johannes, originally from Germany, moved to North Queensland in 2012. Growing up, he faced constant physical difficulties due to congenital intoeing and a severe childhood foot injury. Despite seeing numerous physiotherapists, orthopaedists, and podiatrists throughout his youth, his structural limitations remained. A motorbike accident in his teenage years made things worse, turning sports and everyday physical activities into a constant struggle.
For years, Johannes lived with these boundaries. He was often told his restrictions were minor or that a tight range of motion in his legs and hips was just his natural baseline. He eventually accepted the stiffness, even though it increasingly disrupted daily life—affecting how he walked, ran, stood, sat, and slept.
Professionally, Johannes spent 18 years in engineering and operational management. Holding a degree in 'Engineering and Economics' and a Master of Industrial Engineering, he later served as General Manager of an Australian consultancy advising major enterprise partners, including BHP. This extensive experience with complex, interconnected systems provided an analytical framework that he now applies directly to studying human anatomy and functional movement.
The real turning point came in 2019 when his physical function declined to the point where lifting more than a few kilograms was a struggle. Realising he could no longer hold his young nieces without severe discomfort was his ultimate wake-up call. During a trip back to his home village in Germany, he met a manual therapist who introduced him to the Dorn Method. The treatment brought immediate and remarkable relief to his long-term back stiffness, shifting his entire approach to physical recovery.
Recognising the pure mechanical logic behind the Dorn Method, Johannes decided to master the discipline himself. He completed his foundational training in Germany in 2019 and advanced qualifications in Brisbane in 2020. Today, he is a certified advanced Dorn Method practitioner with the Dorn Method Academy of Australia, an accredited Remedial Massage Therapist with the Australian Traditional Medicine Society, a board-certified Tai Chi instructor with the Tai Chi for Health Institute, and a professional member of the International Institute for Complementary Therapists. To back his hands-on experience with academic research, he is also currently studying Health Science at the University of Adelaide.
Johannes’s own recovery is what drives NQ Spine Health. Having spent years dealing with chronic physical limitations himself, he is genuinely focused on helping clients find lasting relief and regain their quality of life. His background in structural logic, combined with formal health science studies and active movement therapy, gives him a highly practical, down-to-earth approach to helping people restore long-term mobility.
